New publication on primate conservation

馃搼 Our latest paper Phylogenetic Patterns in Hunting and Extinction Risk in Primates was published this week and is avialable here. Ever since I focused on pruimates for one of my PhD thesis chapters (and nothing came of it) I have been collaborating in various primate conservation projects, but this is the first paper on the topic that I鈥檝e led. This work is result of this cool international collaboration, and I鈥檓 quite happy with how the article turned out. If anyone needs the PDF just let me know.

This brief summary of the article was written by the team at Neotropical Primate Conservation, which participated in the article with Sam Shanee & Magdalena Svensson as coauthors:

馃崈 Nearly 70% of primate species are threatened with extinction鈥攁nd hunting is one of the main drivers. Larger species and those that are evolutionarily unique face even higher risks, meaning we are not only losing species, but entire branches of life鈥檚 history. Hunting pressure also varies across regions, highlighting the need for conservation strategies that consider both biological traits and local cultural practices. Protecting primates means understanding these complex patterns and acting accordingly. 馃悞
